Klaus Heider, born in Göppingen in 1936, lived in Bad Boll and Italy until his death in 2013. In 1954, Heider began a graphic study at the Higher Graphic Technical College in Stuttgart, which he completed in 1957. In 1960 he went to Berlin to study at the Berlin Academy of Fine Arts with Prof. Friedrich Stabenau Freie Graphik. In 1964 he finished his studies in Berlin as a "master student". In 1977 he stayed at the Villa Romana in Florence. The garden of the villa is one of his most famous works, a "glass staircase" leading into the ground. In 1982 he received the Rompreis of Villa Massimo. In the years 1983 to 2000, Klaus Heider held a professorship for photography and painting at the Hochschule für Gestaltung in Pforzheim.
